What are some good guns for hunting game?

I know basically nothing about hunting and game, and i live in NE Ks and i would like to know more about this, and maybe some good information about Kansas fish and game.What are some good guns for hunting game?
12 ga pump shotgun does well for everything but long range deer shots. It will work for everything from rabbits and quail to deer.

The first thing you should do is enroll your self into hunters safety course. Taking the course will teach you about Kansas laws of fishing and game. What kinda game?



If it has feathers you need a shot gun.



If it is really small you need a shot gun or a .22.



If it's realy big you need a shot gun that shoots slugs or a centerfire rifle.



If you think your are going to be shooting more than 100 yards you need a centerfire rifle.

For Whitetail deer the minimum caliber is the .243 Winchester. The .25-06 Remington, .270 Winchester, 308 Winchester or .30-06 Springfield are even better. If you are recoil-sensitive I'd pick one of the first three. The last two have a bit more recoil.

Some good guns are these: .22, .243, .270, .284 or 7mm, 30-30 and 30-06. these will take down every thing from a squirrel, to an elk. Good luck. I prefer small game hunting.
