Didn't look much worse than the average Scott Stevens hit. I feel bad for Mc Cammond, he seems like he's probably a real nice guy.

Was the hit excessive, yes.

Did Downie leave his feet, probably.

If he left his feet, as it appears in the video, should he be suspended, yes.

20 games? NO. 8 to 10 at the very most.

Before getting overly tough on hits like this, I'd prefer to see the NHL get rid of the stickwork similar to the job put on Brian Berrard. Who was it that high sticked him in the eye, and what happened to that player (remember, high sticking doesn't have to be intentional to be deemed an infraction).

Next, I'd like to see the NHL take action to secure the safety of fans visiting certain cities where women are beaten by local male fans following playoff games. Seems like a far more important issue to deal with and should have some priority.

yes because the NHL has too many of these headhunters who have know real talent and could severely injure the NHL's top stars
I'm an old guy who grew up with the big bad Bruins in boston. Hockey will become pussified like everything that is fun.
He got off easy. The 20 games should be the minimum suspension with more games added depending on the recovery of Dean McAmmond. I know that is hard to quantify given DM's history of injuries and the fact that one concussion makes it easier to get another. But perhaps the apt suspension should be 20 games for the illegal hit and one game for every game that McAmmond misses. Something like that.

That was a disgusting hit .I would've suspended him from the whole season.

YEP....I love hockey I love the action the boarding ect. But head hunnting is just plain crap. If you seen this puss when he was in the OHL you would know what I am saying...trust me clowns like this...when they stick a guy in the face with his blade LOOOOOOOOONG AFTER THE PLAY I mean come on. If you play the sport...and I do...you know what an accidental love tap to the face feels like..imagine the deliberate swing to the face...
He should have been suspended from any hockey league for an entire season. Let him sit and stew, I say. He's young and could still have a pro hockey career but let him learn a lesson--stop hitting like a Mike Peca.
no 20 games is way to much i would say 10 to 13 games max no more no less
